Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will next week propose that the Cabinet amend details of the natural rubber price intervention plan, Deputy Agriculture Minister Natthawut Saikua tells reporters Tuesday after a weekly Cabinet meeting. The amended plan will allow the government to compensate any losses from the intervention plan more effectively, he says, without elaborating on specifics. The announcement comes amid protests from growers that the Rubber Estate Organization has been buying too little rubber from the market at prices that are well below the target rate of THB120/kg.
