SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)–Thailand will more than treble its natural rubber export cess from October 1 this year, traders said Friday.
The export cess, or tax, starts at THB0.9 kilogram if the free-on-board price is below THB40/kg, and rises to THB5/kg if the FOB price is above THB100/kg, they said.
The National Natural Rubber Policy Committee held a meeting this morning during which the increase was confirmed, the traders said.
The Thai Rubber Association had informed all its members of the impending changes earlier Friday, the traders said. Officials couldn”t immediately be reached for comment.
