17 July 2014: Tocom Rubber Settles Higher in Slow Trade

Tocom rubber futures settle 1.8% higher, with gains getting some upside traction after prices breached the Y200/kg level in the night session. Trade volumes are low with just about 6,000 lots changing hands, so some traders remain skeptical about the gains. “Market confidence and participation is low, so gains may be short-lived,” says a trader in Thailand. Benchmark December rubber settles Y3.5 higher at Y202.9/kg, off the intraday high of Y204.0/kg.
