BANGKOK, April 12 (Reuters) – Asian physical rubber was mostly unchanged on Monday although the Thai RSS3 contract was untraded but quoted higher, due to tight supply and rising futures contracts on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, dealers said.
Benchmark Thai RSS3 was offered at $3.85 per kg, up from last week’s $3.75 per kg. However, there was no trade at that price, traders said.
Trading was very thin as traders in Thailand, the world’s biggest exporter, will be on holiday from April 13 to April 16 for the Thai New Year of Songkran.
Rubber reached levels around $3.30 per kg 58 years ago at the time of the Korean War. Prices went above that level in March this year and have continued to move up due to a seasonal fall in supply at a time of strong demand. For a full report on TOCOM, click on [RUB/T]
