10 Aug 2011: Asian Physical Rubber Rise; China ”Very” Aggressive

Asian physical rubber prices rise, tracking a rebound on bellwether Tocom. The market is active. “China is very, very aggressive today; there are many, many bids,” says a trader in Hat Yai; he adds buyers are bargain hunting after the selloff Tuesday. Thailand”s RSS3 for September shipment sold at $4,710/ton, CIF to China; STR20 also for September shipment sold at $467/ton, CIF to China. Indonesia”s SIR20 changes hands around $4,540/ton, FOB, for October/November shipment; Malaysia”s SMR20 will likely be traded at $4,610/ton, FOB, also for shipment in October/November.
